Could you introduce yourself, with a little bit of your gaming history?
Gaming has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, from early titles like Commander Keen, right through to the very latest ones across multiple gaming platforms, I’ve always loved gaming and the escapism it provides.
As far as competitive gaming, I’ve had my ups and downs with numerous gaming teams and clans, starting off in 1999.
Age: 28
Occupation: MD Nanogames South Africa / iGame Online Manager / Duct Tape Boy
Favourite Game: Deadspace ( PC Singleplayer ) Silent Hill ( Yes the Entire Series ) CoD 4 ( PC Multiplayer )
Mouse: Razer Copperhead
Sensitivity, mouse and in game: 1600 DPI hardware ( CoD sensitivity is 1.1 ) and yes I know that’s very low, Age is a determining Factor
When did iGame become a reality and how did you get it off the ground?
iGame was first conceptualized as a local gaming portal in 2004 , with the current online services making up part of our First Phase of implementation. My IT Management and Development company approached iBurst with the concept of providing a full service online gaming portal for the S.A community to utilize and enjoy.
Although we are still in our teething period, we have made significant advances in both server structure and the addition of new services.
Phase two and Three will see the implementation of some features, catering specifically to gamers and labelled as “Revolutionary” within the industry.
What games do you support and why?
I play primarily CoD 4 Online, as a competitive title these days, although my game collection now far exceeds 1000 titles across PC and most popular Consoles. I will play anything at least once, even gave the original Sims a try back in the day.
What games would you like to see growing in SA gaming?
I think S.A is unique in both the high level of gaming skill and the fast growing competitive local arena. With faster and more stable internet connections now becoming a reality in almost every household, I think we have an unlimited scope for growth locally.
Games I’d like to see grow ?
Any title that is both supported by the community or has the potential to further broaden Online gamings market penetration.
As well as any title that has a stable dedicated server structure, from a implementation aspect, this is essential, as without a streamlined and secure server system, most titles will not reach their potential in the online gaming sector.
With iGame being viewed more as public and social servers, how has the iGame leagues helped bring in top tiered clans?
iGame initially started out as a public service exclusively and has developed, along with the online community’s focus to also offer competitive gaming in the form of monthly Tournaments and Online Leagues.
With iGame as the official host for the Intel Annihilation Leagues from 2008 onwards, with the largest prize pool for online tournaments in 2009 to date, we have started steadily growing and attracting new teams along with the top local clans.
We will continue to grow in this respect as we strive to deliver, as a server hosting service, that which the online gaming community requests
How do you feel about competitive gaming in SA?
Competitive gaming in S.A is fast becoming a household activity amongst most gamers.
With the possibility to compete in a larger number of online and offline events and tournaments than ever before, new gamers are being introduced to competitive gaming on an almost daily basis.
I think we have some of the best gamers in S.A, with the competitive scene growing at its current rate, its not hard to imagine more S.A players competing at international events in the not too distant future.
iGame will continue to support this growth.
Do you see gaming becoming bigger and better?

Call of Duty 4 - iGame Alpha Currently SA's favourite Server
As stated above, gaming is growing at en exponential rate, with new gamers joining the online fraternity on a daily basis.
At this rate, if continuous and steady growth can be achieved , we should see a industry which is on par with many European Online communities in the future
Finally would you like to give any shout outs?
I’d like to take the time to personally thank everyone who has supported iGame and continues to do so.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, as a gamer myself I am excited to see Phase 2 and Phase 3 of iGame kicking off in the not too distant future.
Now it is time for the qu1k qu3stions!
