Incredible Connection is the leading computer and technology retail chain in Africa has come on board as the lead sponsor for MSSA, the sole body as recognised by the government and SASCOC as the custodian of computer games as recognised as a sport. It also looks after other games like figure games, draughts, go, morabaraba, diplomacy, and cell phone games.

As the headline sponsor we will be looking at growing competitive gaming at school, university, provincial and national level. It is through sponsorships like this that gaming will be able to achieve new heights both locally, and internationally.

After what can only be described as a roller coaster ride, Incredible Connection and MSSA finally concluded the deal on the 7th July. The contract was signed at Olympic House in Johannesburg the home of SASCOC. With whom MSSA is affiliated.

From left to right, Patience Shikwambana, Colin Webster, Trevor Henry, David Vannucci and acting CEO of SASCOC Vinesh Maharaj, where all present at the signing. With all parties present and excited about the future it is difficult to see anything but growth moving forward.

But that is the challenge isn’t it, moving forward. As these are new waters for Incredible Connection we are making sure that we do things right, and doing them the right way from the start. As such don’t expect massive out of this world events right now, give us a few months to get our feet planted! As with anything Incredible, it takes some time to become the biggest and best.

We will be getting involved with all of the events that MSSA are hosting and we will be keeping you updated as and when things happen. The National LAN championships are set for early August and will be hosted by Northcliff High School. This event is looking to be a great starting point for all parties involved.

So what does this actually mean to you? The gamer? Well quite simply, we are hoping to become the portal that pushes more gamers into the gaming scene. Getting more players, more teams and more people actually playing and competing online. Making use of all Incredible Connection stores, we want to start funnelling people that buy games to the respective online gaming portals. We want to show the 500 000 ADSL consumers in South Africa that there is this whole other world that they can be involved in. We are hoping to enlarge the existing ADSL user base as well as getting more of the ADSL enabled, actually playing online and playing against you the gamer!

Incredible Connection is also connected to the market, we are actively improving our stock portfolio and soon enough, we will cater to every sector of the market. The fact that the company hired a gamer shows commitment to that end goal.  In addition we also know that there are several online and offline leagues that are hugely successful currently. The likes of 600 man LAN’s in Cape Town and 300 man LAN Parties in Jhb and Durban. As well as the thousands of social and competitive gamers currently playing on the SGS and iGame portals. As you may be aware, Incredible Connection has also sponsored prizes for the upcoming BOTCv3 for Call of Duty 4. In addition to this deal Incredible Connection is stepping up by looking at getting involved in the DoGaming leagues by not only making them larger and more exciting but by hosting brand new leagues both online and offline as well.

By hiring a gamer who is not only active and involved in the market, Incredible Connection stays abreast of the changes the big games etc. Through these partnerships, Incredible Connection will lead the way in development and growth of Electronic Gaming, you wouldn’t expect any less from the leading computer and technology retailer in Africa.
