Sony Bravia ZX1 LCD TV – slimmer than a slice of bread

February 6, 2009 | Industry News | 0 Comments

Can you believe that a TV is now thinner than that slice of toast you ate for breakfast? Sony have just released their latest Bravia LCD TV that is just 9.9mm wide. But not for long will it be the slimmest LCD on the market – other manufacturers have prototypes out that measure 8mm, with some experts claiming that TV’s will be as thin as 3mm – the width of a wedding ring.

Here are some pictures of the Sony Bravia ZX1:

Now that LCD TV’s are this thin, they probably a lot easier to break too. Not good considering the price!

Trade-in your old goods for new upgrades during February

February 4, 2009 | IC News | 37 Comments

From the 5th of February, Incredible Connection is running a Trade-In and Upgrade promotion. Its pretty simple, bring in your old pc’s, CRT monitors, film cameras, dot matrix printers, map books, ball mice or laptops and get discount when upgrading. All your old technology is either refurbished to be sent to schools and charities that desperately need it or if the goods are unusable, they are destroyed in an environmentally safe way.

Trade-in and Upgrade

For those of you looking to switch to Apple – bring in your old PC or laptop and upgrade to either an iMac or Macbook.

GPS

Are you still using an old school map book to find your way around? Seriously, bring it in and get R800 off a GPS device. The Garmin Nuvi 215W will cost you R3299.95 when you bring in that map book or any old GPS device.

LCD Monitors

What monitor are you currently using at home? One of those big and fat old school CRT monitors that the colours are starting to fade in the corners and takes 2 minutes to warm up? Bring that thing in and get a crystal clear LCD monitor! Get between R200 and R1000 off depending on which size LCD monitor you wish to upgrade to.

Digital Cameras

This year, Incredible Connection have expanded the February Trade-in to include digital cameras – so if you have any of those film cameras lying around in your draw collecting dust or if you were an early adopter and have one of those old 1 or 2 megapixel digital cameras, bring them in! Just don’t try and bring in a disposable camera – that’s just being cheeky. ;)

What old tech do you have lying around your house? Are you considering bringing it in to Incredible Connection for an upgrade?

Homemade playstation portable

February 3, 2009 | Hardware | 0 Comments

Sometimes you wonder if gamers have to much time on their hands. Gamefreak11 probably does. He made a PSOneP out of balsa wood, 6000 mah li-ion battery, lcd screen and of course a Playstation One. The lid that houses the LCD even flips up, making it truly “portable”.

You definitely have to give this guy credit for his PSOneP. A totally portable Playstation One that can run for 4 hours!

Incredible Protection – something new from Incredible Connection

January 29, 2009 | IC News | 2 Comments

pc-warrantyMost extended warranties from retailers are just a basic extension of the manufacturers warranty, so that if your product was faulty after its warranty expired, you would still be able to take it back to the store where you bought it and they would still repair or replace it.

The problem that you might have with this is that you will be without your product until it is fixed – and when it comes to your PC or laptop, that is a real inconvenience. So, what we have done at Incredible Connection is add some really cool benefits to Incredible Protection – our extended warranty product.

Incredible Protection Features

  • Incredible Protection extends the manufacturers warranty by 1 year
  • A loan unit will be made available 48 hours after you have made your claim
  • Vouchers to the value of R500 are included with the Incredible Protection – usable at any Incredible Connection store
  • Can be purchased up to 6 months after your PC or notebook purchase

Two things really stand out with regards to Incredible Protection.

1 – R500 worth of vouchers are included. The PC Extended Warranty costs R499 and the Notebook Extended Warranty costs R699, so in essence you are getting a discount of R500 with those vouchers!

2 – A loan unit is included with your warranty. So many people cannot do without their PC or notebook for more than a day or two, and with repairs sometimes taking longer than that, you are able to pick up a loan unit to use while your PC or notebook is being repaired! Sure, the loan unit will not be the exact same model that you purchased, but it will have the same functionality.

One last thing – you don’t have to purchase the Incredible Protection with your PC or notebook. You have up to 6 months to come back and purchase it separately. So after using your new notebook or PC and realising that you can not do without it, you can go back into an Incredible Connection store and pick up the Incredible Protection Extended Warranty.

Peace of mind for sure!
