So the years up and it’s been a pretty good one for gaming with titles like Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum gracing our televisions and monitors. I’ve taken my pick of the two most promising games, in my opinion, to look out for in January of 2010.

Dark Void
Dark Void by Capcom is a title I’ve been keeping an eye on for the past few months and there have been some very interesting developments as far as this game is concerned. In Dark Void you play the role of a pilot who is literally dropped into a situation where you’re forced to fight for your life and join a desperate struggle that is the resistance, what are they resisting you ask? From the looks of it a super advanced alien race.
What captured my interest here is the ability to navigate around large stages and basically choose your approach and decide which way you want to take on a certain

situation. Our hero comes equipped with a jet pack which allows him to explore the world in a way quite unique to any other game ever released; the jet pack opens up the possibility of air combat and the hijacking of alien spacecraft in mid-air, even vertical combat.
In short, the game looks absolutely amazing with unique game play dynamics and very nice visuals. Dark Void will be released on the Xbox, PS3 and PC towards the middle of January.
Next up we have Mass Effect 2, a game which is probably on most our reader’s wish list anyway and with very good reason.
Mass Effect 2 which as the name would elude to be is the sequel to Mass Effect which features about a gazillion new features and improvements to the original. You play Commander Shepard, a Spectre (read up more about what Spectres are and Mass Effect 2 on the official site: http://masseffect.bioware.com ) and captain of the Normandy, a highly advanced space ship.

Mass Effect 2, inside the Normandy
If you played the original you can expect to see some familiarity in this title with most aspects largely improved and magnified upon. The Normandy is now MUCH bigger than before featuring many new areas to explore. The battle system has been updated and is much more fluent and just looks great. From what I have seen from the storyline it is once again absolutely mind-blowing.

Mass Effect 2
If you haven’t played the first Mass Effect, go get it … go get it now, you have about 30 days to finish it before Mass Effect 2 arrives. Reason I’m telling you to do this is because Mass Effect 2 features a system which allows you to carry over decisions, characters and developments from your first Mass Effect experience. Mass Effect2 will be released around the end of January for the PC and Xbox 360.
