Transgaming, the company perhaps better known for making PC games run, and run smoothly, on Mac OSX, have now entered into the full-on games development arena. Transgaming have partnered with Dutch published Foreign Music Games, to launch a new games development studio in Toronto, Canada.
The first game to be developed by Transgaming’s new studio will be a music game for the Wii, themed around Dutch trance music legend Armin van Buuren. Van Buuren produces a weekly trance radio show called A State of Trance, the most listened-to radio show in the world, with more than 30 million listeners in over 40 countries. The game will be called “Armin van Buuren – In The Mix”.
“This is an exciting time for TransGaming as we expand the company to embrace new strategic opportunities that will provide new revenue streams from core game development projects.” says CEO and President of TransGaming, Vikas Gupta. “It’s an absolute thrill for our first game to be a new global franchise based on the top DJ in the world, Armin Van Buuren. We are confident that “Armin van Buuren – In the Mix” will propel the highly popular music gaming genre to new heights with its innovative game play experience that embodies the creativity, energy and artistry of the ultimate DJ.”
Armin van Buuren, named number one prestigious DJ for two years running, and the world’s most popular DJ is taking his passion for trance to the world-wide gaming community. The timing is crucial here though, as “In The Mix” is not the first game in the DJing game to be announced, with DJ Hero, Scratch, and DJ Star under development, the market will be rather crowded with DJ games.
Armin van Buuren will be doing a live show in South Africa, I’m sure we’re bound to hear some of the new game’s music at the show.
