The official World Cup 2010 South Africa video game

January 28, 2010 | Game News, Gaming | 2 Comments

We all knew it was going to happen and now it’s been confirmed; EA will be releasing the only officially licensed game for the 2010 World Cup. As can be expected, the title will be released across all major platforms. How the game will differ across each platform remains to be seen and can be tracked at: www.easports.com .

Players will have access to each and every team that took part in the World Cup qualifiers for 2010 (199 teams). All of the South-African stadiums will feature in the game as well as others based abroad (for qualification matches). If you’ve been following and playing the FIFA franchise as long as I have you’ll know that a World Cup game is quite standard issue; having said that, it must be noted that EA have packed this particular instalment with some features that have never been available before.

The most notable feature will definitely be the online tournament play, where you will be pitted against other players from rival countries in an attempt to firstly qualify for The World Cup and then try to go on to win it.

As this is an officially licensed product you can expect to see the official FIFA 2010 mascot Zakumi, official logos and so on; you also won’t have to worry about coming across any players named David Brekham or Christina Reinaldi. EA is clearly aiming at creating an experience for players which will simulate the World Cup experience as closely as possible for gamers. The online tournament play alone will provide hours of replay value and entertainment for soccer and gaming fans alike.
