Halo Wars, Microsoft’s much-hyped realtime strategy game from Ensemble Studios, based on the popular Halo universe, has already reached 1 million sales worldwide in the short time since the 27th of February, making it the best selling strategy game on current generation formats.

Impressive Numbers

Since the initial release of the game in Europe on the 27th of February 2009, and later on the 3rd of March 2009 in the US, almost 2 million games have been played over Xbox Live, with an average of about 200,000 players playing the game each and every day across the world.  Up to the minute stats for the game can be seen on the game’s official stats pages.

End of an era

The release of Halo Wars marked the end of Ensemble Studios, which closed its doors soon after the game’s release.  Worry not though, as several members from Ensemble, including its co-founder Tony Goodman, have formed the new Robot Entertainment, who have pledged ongoing support for Halo Wars, and if rumours are to believed, Robot and Microsoft are working closely together to bring more Halo Wars content to all Halo fans around the world.
