dragonageoriginsBioware, the makers of hugely successful roleplaying titles such as the Baldur’s Gate series, the Neverwinter Nights series and the fantastic Mass Effect, have teamed up with roleplaying-game legends Green Ronin create a roleplaying version of Bioware’s Dragon Age: Origins game.

Bioware, a division of Electronic Arts, announced in a press release that Green Ronin Publishing will launch a pen and paper version of the upcoming Dragon Age: Origins game, making Dragon Age accessible to even more roleplaying game fans out there in the more traditional way of roleplaying. The electronic version of Dragon Age: Origins is scheduled for release in the last quarter of 2009, and will be released for PC, XBox 360 and PS3, and the pen and paper version will be set in the Dragon Age universe, and will “extend the Dragon Age universe”, according to the press release.

“Dragon Age: Origins has been described as the spiritual successor to BioWare’s Baldur’s Gate™, one of the most highly-acclaimed fantasy computer RPGs in the world, so when BioWare approached us to do a pen and paper version, we had to say ‘yes!’,”

said Green Ronin President Chris Pramas.

The pen and paper game will be available during the US summer months at card and roleplaying shops as a boxed set, with plans for other boxed sets and extra books. With any luck, local South African comic/gaming shops such as Outer Limits and Wizards will also carry the game.

Green Ronin Publishing can be found on Twitter and on Facebook. More information about the Dragon Age: Origins game can be found on the official game site.
