=BFB= laRd Selecting The Map Before The Game

Incredible Connection’s Sponsored gaming team, the big fat B*stards, fielded two teams in this years Call of Duty 4 LAN Final hosted at rAge 2009!

The stronger of the two teams led Trevor “qu1k_sh0t” Henry played fantastically all weekend long and eventually managed to place second overall. After fighting through the group stages, laRd went into the double elimination bracket with a first place seeding. However in the knock-out stages, once you loose two games, you are out of the tournament entirely!

laRd was able to win their first game with relative ease, however the second game was not going to be so easy. laRd would come up against the team they faced off against in the Incredible Connection One Night Cup hosted a week before, you can read about that here. The game came down to the wire, and laRd made some silly mistakes which ended up costing them the game, a final score of 11 – 13 meant that laRd was going down to the lower bracket. If they took one more loss they would be out!

A few more games saw laRd coming out on top time and time again finally managing to secure a spot in the lower bracket quarter finals. laRd would have to beat several teams to reach the grand final. The first team to fall prey  was miNt Gaming who fought hard, but lost out to a stronger laRd team.

Following the quarter final, laRd would have to face off against Avatar in the lower bracket semi final. This game was always going to be a tough one, and the loser would be out of the tournament! After a tough half on the easier side, laRd looked like they might crack under the pressure. However some stellar attacking rounds meant that laRd would progress through to the lower bracket finals after defeating a strong Avatar side 13 – 10!

The winner of the lower finals, would progress to the grand final, and the loser would walk home with a bronze medal. By this time Brazen had defeated Pantheon Gaming in the upper bracket final and that meant that =BFB= laRd and Pantheon Gaming would face off for a shot at glory. The favourite going into the game was Pantheon, however earlier in the week laRd had bested Pantheon with a 13 – 6 scoreline. This game laRd would do even better, the two teams faced off against one another, however a pumped up laRd side pushed through to a 13 – 4 victory. =BFB= laRd was in the grand final!

Brazen vs =BFB= laRd

Brazen vs =BFB= laRd

Brazen vs =BFB= laRd would be the last game of the tournament. laRd pushed hard to get an early lead pushing Brazen hard on defence and managing to secure a 7 – 2 lead. However Brazen pushed back using different routes and finding laRd’s weak points. At half time the score was 5 – 7 to laRd, and it looked like Brazen may be able to win on the easier side.
laRd was not going to go down without a fight and fought back, the scores were dead locked at 9 – 9 and went tit for tat. At 11 – 11 Brazen took the second last round, placing them on game point. At 11 – 12 down, laRd lost two players to grenade and sniper fire and was not able to pull the round back. Brazen closed the game out winning 13 – 11 against the =BFB= laRd side.

Final standings see Brazen in first place, with =BFB= laRd second, Pantheon Gaming took 3rd place! The competition was fantastically well run and the 36 teams that took part in the tournament should all be congratulated. Brazen took home a bundle of Logitech prizes, including G19 Keyboard, G9x mouse and G51 speakers each. As well as cash from DoGaming. Congratulations to the winners, and congratulations to our very own =BFB= laRd!
